If you're patient, or on a fast connection, try these movies, too: (download speed will be limited to 128kbs on this end...under ideal circumstances that's about a minute and a half per megabyte).
- An almost 360 degree panorama from the beach at Kalaloch (4,126,724 bytes)
- Vera and Guido on the beach(6,125,572 bytes)
- Vera and Guido again, but pulling back to show more of the beach and sky (3,291,140 bytes)
If you've never been there, it's out on the Washington coast, almost due West from Seattle. Here's a link to a map locating Kalaloch Lodge.
Looking from the beach back at the lodge:
Just to the right, a row of cabins. We stayed in one towards the left of this photo:
You can see that it was really dreary the day we arrived. We had some of the worst rain I've driven through for some time. As you'll see in subsequent photos, the weather got a lot nicer.
Of course the first thing we had to do was ...
The dogs made themselves RIGHT at home in our cabin, without any hesitation:
And they were always willing to be our alarm clocks in the morning:
The weather got much better the second day we were there. Here's a view out of our cabin:
And with good weather, that meant a walk on the beach, and a chance to coat a tennis ball with sand:
as well as just running around and having fun in the sand and surf:
and trying not to get caught by the waves:
A beautiful sunset the night before we left:
On the way home, Lake Crescent was so gorgeous that I just had to snap a few pictures. You'll see why:
And lastly, on the ferry ride across Puget Sound, a view, through the haze, of Seattle and Mt Rainier (if you look very carefully, you can see the top of the Space Needle):
